Roy/ Verrochi : Controversial Topic: Home

Students will research both sides of a controversial topic and create a pamphlet arguing in favor of a particular perspective based on their research.

Objective

Research a controversial topic, examining both sides of an issue. Create a pamphlet presenting your perspective, using your research to enhance your argument/claims.

You will use Canva as a tool to create the pamphlet.

Project Requirements

  • Include background information to provide context and demonstrate your understanding.

  • Provide a clear stance on your topic. Ex: Uniforms will make public schools better.

  • Two solid reasons, with supporting evidence from a credible source, to support your argument.

  • Present the opposing viewpoint, and then explain why that viewpoint is not valid and turn the argument back to support your original stance.  Use evidence from a credible source to support your argument. Ex. Even though uniforms first appear to limit choice, they actually encourage students’ personal growth and focus on common interests rather than who is wearing what.

  • Design your pamphlet to effectively present your work.  Consider your use of color, images, and font.

  • Your Works Cited/Bibliography will be a separate, required assessment and should include at least four (4) credible sources.  Noodletools will be used to create this document.
